Step 1: Set your promo event as a GA4 conversion goal
To track "promo participation" as an ad performance metric, you'll need to mark the relevant event as a conversion.
Log in to your GA4 admin console.
Go to the "Events" report.
Next to the event you want to track (like fever_engage_complete or fever_form_submit), turn on the "Mark as conversion" toggle.
Once set up, you'll see this promo event listed under "Conversions," and you can then view how many promo participants each ad campaign drove, using the Landing Page or Acquisition reports.
Step 2: Define custom dimensions for promo tracking
To filter and query performance for a specific promo directly within GA4 reports, you need to register the custom parameters Feversocial sends as custom dimensions.
Log in to your GA4 admin console.
Go to "Custom definitions" > "Custom dimensions."
Click "Create custom dimension" and set up the following three dimensions, choosing "Event" as the scope for each:
Dimension name | Parameter name | Scope | Description (optional) |
Promo ID | promo_id | Event | Used to filter performance for a specific promo |
Page ID | page_id | Event | Used to filter performance for a specific promo page |
Form ID | form_id | Event | Used to filter performance for a specific form |
Step 3: View performance for a specific promo in GA4 reports
Once your custom dimensions are set up, you can apply a filter in the standard reports to view data for one specific promo.
Go to the "Events report" in your GA4 reports.
Click "Add filter" at the top of the report.
Choose the custom dimension you defined in Step 2, such as "Promo ID (promo_id)."
Check the specific Promo ID value you want to view, and you'll see that promo's dedicated performance data.
Step 4: Build an "audience" of promo participants
If you want to track long-term whether customers who joined a marketing promo go on to make a purchase, you can build a dedicated audience.
Go to your GA4 admin console > "Audiences."
Click "New audience."
Set your conditions:
Save this audience, and you can then compare it against other audiences in later reports (like conversion reports) to analyze its purchase-conversion rate.
Step 5: Solve GA4's cross-domain tracking issue
If your promo domain (event.website.com) is different from your official website's domain (website.com), you'll need the following setup to unify user behavior tracking.
Go to your GA4 admin console > "Data streams."
Select the web stream you've set up.
