What is NFC?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range, high-frequency wireless communication technology
that lets your device do contactless, point-to-point data transfer.
This data transfer has many applications, such as mobile payments, e-tickets (access cards, etc.), sharing contact info, opening a webpage, and more.
This guide focuses on the "open a webpage" NFC application, and walks you through how to set it up
Suitable Feversocial promo scenarios
Place an NFC tag at a physical location so customers can tap it with their smartphone. Once the tap succeeds, it automatically redirects to a designated promo page. This works well for marketing activities like exhibition booths or in-store check-ins, letting customers physically find the promo page's entry point offline
*Note:
This method can't fully prevent the URL from leaking, since once the tap succeeds, the customer's phone opens the webpage URL, and the customer could then choose to share it with friends who aren't on-site. If this is a concern, here are two approaches to consider:
Keep using NFC, but restrict promo rewards to on-site redemption only.

Purchasing NFC stickers
Besides purchasing a Feversocial promo module plan, you'll also need to separately purchase NFC stickers!

We recommend buying stickers — each one costs roughly $7-15 NTD (search "NFC sticker" online and you'll find plenty of sellers!) — and sticking them wherever you want customers to tap on-site, such as on décor, signage, etc.
NFC setup process
Download an NFC read/write tool before you get started.

App home screen
The home screen is very simple — the main functions you'll use are Read (scan) & Write.
If you have multiple stickers, remember to label them so you can save each sticker's corresponding record to "My saved tags" for easy reference later.
Getting started:
1. Use Read to first check the sticker's status
2. Write the promo URL to the sticker
First go to the "Write" section and add a new record
Write the record to the sticker
You'll see the URL you just set up was created successfully — now tap the Write button | Tap the sticker you want to set up | This screen means the sticker was written successfully! You're all done! |
You can now close the app and tap the sticker directly to test that it automatically opens the promo URL
NFC works reliably on both Android and iPhone, but there are a few device differences worth noting:
✅ Android (most phones)
🔹 NFC support is built in — most Android phones (like Samsung, Google Pixel) can scan an NFC sticker and open the URL directly, no extra setup needed.
🔹 Make sure NFC is turned on:
Go to Settings > Connections > NFC (the exact path may vary slightly by brand).
Make sure NFC is enabled, so the phone automatically opens the URL when it's brought near the sticker.
✅ iPhone (iOS 13 and above)
🔹 iPhone 7 and later models support NFC, but you'll need iOS 13 or later to scan and open the URL directly.
🔹 iPhone automatic NFC reading (iPhone XS and later):
On the iPhone XS / 11 / 12 / 13 / 14 / 15 series, bringing the phone near the NFC sticker will automatically open the short URL
No extra app needed — it just works.
🔹 iPhone 7/8/X need to open the NFC scanner from Control Center:
Open Control Center on your iPhone (swipe down from the top right).
Tap the "NFC Tag Reader" button (the NFC circular icon).
Bring the phone near the NFC sticker, and a prompt to open the Bitly short URL will pop up.
🚨 Special notes
❌ iPhone 6 and older models don't support NFC — these users can switch to a QR code approach instead (turn the URL into a QR code).
❌ Some entry-level Android models may have NFC turned off by default, and users will need to turn it on manually.
